Pacific Rim Baseball Umpires (also known as PRBU) was formed for exclusively educational and charitable purposes. Specifically, Pacific Rim Baseball Umpires educates anyone that is interested in becoming a baseball umpire by providing initial & continuation training, education and mentoring through regular training meetings, umpire clinics, video feedback, written evaluations and a variety of other means.
For many years there has been a continuing shortage of baseball umpires available to youth leagues on up through the high school levels in Honolulu County (it’s a national problem as well). Leagues have had to postpone games due to a severe shortage of umpires. The initial founders for the Pacific Rim Baseball Umpires; all certified Division-I college baseball umpires, took it upon themselves in June of 2012 to start a nonprofit corporation that would volunteer it’s time to recruit and educate those with an interest in becoming a baseball umpire and to further educate experienced umpires as well.
